Similar to certain cartridge games, the 3DO uses an internal battery to provide power to ram where saved games are stored. The battery is not easily user accessible and chances are you probably have the same battery that came with your system from the 90s. While many of these batteries (surprisingly) seem to still be doing their job, there are 3DO owners out there who have run into dead batteries/no saving functionality likely caused by a dead or weak battery. The following is a guide with pictures for how to replace that battery. The guide is written for a Goldstar 3DO, but can probably be extrapolated to other models.
